And We Begin

The First Batch of Goodies

So I've officially started my juice fast and it's going very well. My first meal was the Mean Green that Joe Cross, my official mentor, calls his favorite meal. I really expected it to not be bad but I didn't expect to really enjoy it. The ingredients were kale, celery, Fuji apples, lemon and officially my fave, ginger. Now I've never bought this stuff before but I guess I needed to get on the ginger root bandwagon. Buying it in the store was an eye opener, the entire case in the produce section was empty and I grabbed the last handful that was available. This stuff was so good in my first meal, I want to throw it in every refreshing cup I make. I only could taste the lemon and the ginger's spice, it was really good. I immediately got a surge of energy, like my brain woke up or something. I think the kale is doing the trick, I've read it's a super food, I'm going to include it in at least 50% of what I drink. I have noticed slight cravings already, I wanted tortilla chips, butter pretzels and marshmallows. Now of those three things I only like one, the tortilla chips, so I don't know what that's about. I'm assuming there will be more cravings but I know I'm ready.

My frige is looking mighty different these days.
The Mean Green... It was sooooo good.
Meal 1: Joe Cross' Mean Green

I'm feeling fatigued but no more than I normally feel. I took myself off of coffee five days ago so I wasn't struggling with caffeine withdrawal while dealing with any side affects of starting my fast. It was terribly difficult, but I'm glad I did it that way. The sinus congestion I normally have is sticking around for now and I still took my blood pressure medicine as is advised to stay on any prescription drugs. I'm also experiencing this rushing feeling in my head, and a lot of pressure. That's also something that I've been feeling for about a year since the birth of my son, I'm looking forward to getting that all behind me.

So I'm off to a good start. About to make my next batch. I'm excited about these new steps, the time has come. Leggo!!!!!

Will and Jada and Me Too & The Juicing Revolution!

The one thing I love about blogging is the ability to pick up where you left off. Reading through my previous posts it's clear that I was telling one very selective side of my story. Since December, which is the last time I posted, so much has changed, I'm in the middle of so much transition, but this is the ample time to take a leap in the area of my health. So right now my focus has much more to do with health than it does weight loss, although the weight loss will come with the health focus.

Will & Jada Smith
Will and Jada and me too. In the wake of the announcement that Will and Jada, (my all star example super couple), are breaking up, the same is true for me. Not that I would arouse an ounce of the fan fare that they would in their announcement, but this is the first time I'm saying this publicly. Only me and 2 1/2 other people are reading this anyway so what the hay, I am separated from my husband. All the "stresses at home" I documented in December have change from boiling to a quiet simmer at least 80% of the time. I've found that a bad marriage was the primary reason I was struggling in my health and with my weight. I'm changing the blog tagline from "14 to 8...A Path to Weight Loss and Essential Health While Juggling Baby, Business and Boo," to "14 to 8...A Path to Weight Loss and Essential Health While Juggling Baby, Business and Bonafide Change."  While I cant blame another person for decisions that I've made for myself, it's clear that stress is a silent killer. I had to loose some weight in order to loose some weight and that's what I'm in the process of doing.

Joe Cross- Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead
I also have an actual plan this time. I recently watched Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead by Joe Cross. A documentary on how he lost a ton of weight and restored his health all by juicing. I along with about a million others are greatly inspired by Joe's story and more than that, his actions. Tomorrow I start my 60 day juice fast. I am actually excited about it. It's not something I'm dreading at all, I was dreaming of juicing and I cant wait to get started. Joe just video blogged that he completed one year on April 1, 2012 of his reboot process and I think it's not coincidence that I'm starting almost one year exactly to the date of his start. His belly looked similar to mine, lol, he also had many health issues as do I, and we're in the same age bracket, so yep, if he can do it, I can do it.

Heading out soon to get my juicer and all my goodies, will report back soon. But trust, you're not going to see any "before" pictures until there's some sort of an "after." Heheee. I'll document the whole process with pics and videos. And we're off!
